[Jack's voice is happy, nearly ecstatic as he speaks.]

Oh darlin'! Sweetness, light-o'-my-life darlin'? I got a surprise for us. Don't eat dinner tonight. Meet me at my house-- er-- an hour before the siren sounds.

[Oh, what's this? She sends a text back to say she'll be there, of course, and once she sends all the little ones to bed and has changed out of her work clothes, she heads over to Jack's place to see him.]

[He smirks as he opens the door.]

That's a lovely blue blouse you got on.

[Notably, he doesn't have his sonar device in.]

[She smiles, smoothing it down.]

Thank you. It's the usual, but--

[Wait. She pauses.]

...Jack?

And those eyes o' yours-- Christ, I never noticed how perfect they are. That smile? I could stare at it all day.

[Her face lights up in realization.]

You can see! But... How? When did it happen?

Madara. He fixed me, he did somethin'-- god, I don't know the details, but who cares?

[He steps down, tugging her in for an enthusiastic kiss.]

[She smiles brightly, putting her arms around him and kissing him. Her eagerness and elation certainly shows.]

I'm so glad. I'll need to thank him if I see him.

No need, I musta thanked him a million times already.

[He sighs happily and noses against her.]

I have another surprise. Are you hungry?

[She laughs quietly, hugging him close.]

Famished, actually.

Lovely. Come in.

[He takes her hand and leads her inside, where there's two new additions to the household: a large wooden cabinet and a picnic basket. He grabs the basket with his free hand, hesitates, and then holds it out to her.]

Hold it, if you please.

[She squeezes his hand tightly and follows him inside, taking the picnic basket from him.]

...Has that cabinet always been there?

Nope. Just got it for my birthday.

[With his free hand he reaches for a key tied around his neck and unlocks the cabinet. It's empty inside-- oddly empty, actually; there doesn't seem to be a back to it, but nor is there a wall.]

Follow me.

[He steps inside, tugging her forward.]

[She looks surprised when he opens it and heads inside. Alice is hesitant for a moment before she follows him, quite used to rabbit holes and what might lie within them.]

Something of Sirius', I gather?

Mmhmm.

[A moment of darkness (and Jack holds onto her hand quite tightly) before they emerge onto the other side.

They step out onto a beach. It's a secluded area, surrounded mostly by the dune-- but there's a high point where they can look at the ocean together.

He grins at her.]

Beautiful, ain't it?

[She blinks briefly into the light at the other end, blinded for a moment. But then her eyes are widening with wonder, absolutely entranced by what she sees.]

My God... It's amazing, Jack.

Have you ever seen a beach before?

[It's not a mocking question, but a genuine one. He tangled their fingers together tightly and leads her up to the ridge.]

And the best part is, we're alone. Nobody can find us here.

I haven't, actually. There weren't any where I lived in London.

[She smiles, holding his hand tightly as she follows him.]

...We're still in Siren's Port, aren't we?

Aye. Just on the coastline.

[He falls silent until they reach the top. Taking the picnic basket from her, he unpacks a blanket, spreading it out on the sand, and gestures.]

We can even watch the sun set, if you don't mind riskin' a few monsters.

[She nods, sitting and smoothing down her dress. She helps him take out the contents of the basket with a smile.]

I'm not afraid, trust me.

[And she trusts him; she knows she'll be all right.]

It's really beautiful, though.

[He beams over at her.]

I'm glad you like it.

I do. It's lovely, Jack, really. I'm almost sad that I've never seen a view like this before.

[Wonderland really doesn't count. She sets her hand on his.]

[Happily he tangles their fingers together, snuggling against her.]

Well, you seen it now! And you can see it whenever you want.

[She laughs quietly, settling against him.]

Yes, I'll just swing over to your place whenever. I'll be certain to wake Sirius up as well, when I can.

[He kisses the top of her head.]

Just not for the sunrise, love, he's awful at that. He'll grumble and yell and sulk and then wander back to bed til two.
